I’m Meg Hodson, founder of Nutmeg Studio, a boutique Shopify web design studio based in Cape Town. Since 2015, I’ve been helping product-based brands around the world — from supplements and wellness to jewelry, beauty, home goods, and fashion — create online stores that look amazing and convert.

The Story behind the name

My Approach

Great eCommerce design is about understanding how people buy. I combine Shopify expertise with a background in communications, copywriting, and digital marketing to build stores that look good and work.

Before specialising in Shopify, I spent years in publishing and financial copywriting. What I learned? Clarity always beats cleverness. The best websites don’t try to impress - instead they guide, inform, and remove friction so your customers can shop with ease.

Nutmeg Studio is named for the spice that adds warmth and depth without ever being overpowering — which is exactly how I approach web design. Every store I create is thoughtful, polished, and purposeful.

how it started

What drives my work

I started Nutmeg Studio because too many good products were being held back by websites that didn't reflect their quality. DIY stores that look amateur. Slow, clunky platforms that frustrate customers. Amateur design that doesn't build brand credibility.
