Usher Whisky

A modern expression of a timeless craft — a premium, heritage-inspired Shopify website for this new Cape Town whisky brand.

The Challenge

In the mid-19th century, Andrew Usher perfected the art of blending malt and grain whiskies, making Scotch smoother, more consistent, and more accessible to the world. His innovation reshaped whisky history and opened the doors for Scotland’s global whisky trade.

More than 150 years later, husband-and-wife team Allen and Lynette Usher are honouring that legacy. From their base in Cape Town, they craft a refined blend of premium Scotch and South African aged whisky — rooted in tradition, but designed for the modern whisky drinker.

To share this story with the world, they needed a digital home that would match their brand’s depth and sophistication. A Shopify store that feels as rich and authentic as the whisky itself — balancing heritage storytelling with the clarity and functionality today’s customers expect.
The Solution

Rather than creating just another spirits store, our goal was to build an online experience that communicates trust, heritage, and refinement from the very first click.

We focused on balancing Usher Whisky’s legacy with modern conversion-optimisation principles:

  • Premium design to reflect history and craftsmanship.
  • Intuitive navigation and fast-loading pages for seamless customer experience.
  • Storytelling elements that highlight Andrew Usher’s legacy and connect it to today’s expression.
  • Technical foundations (email automation, reviews, video integration) to support both sales and long-term brand building.
Results & Impact
  • Premium Shopify design inspired by heritage and tradition, with a clean, modern execution.
  • Responsive build that works seamlessly across devices.
  • Fast-loading structure to reduce drop-offs and boost conversions.
  • Email marketing automations including welcome series and abandoned cart flows.
  • Product reviews app for building credibility and customer trust.
  • Brand storytelling video integration to share the Usher legacy in a more immersive way.
  • Detail-focused product pages showcasing tasting notes, heritage, and craftsmanship.

The result

The new Usher Whisky website provides a digital experience as refined as the product itself — one that blends history with innovation, builds trust with new customers, and supports Allen and Lynette as they expand their heritage brand in South Africa and beyond.
