Every store is different, so I don't begin a redesign with a predetermined list of changes.
But there are some questions I come back to again and again.
Can people understand what you sell quickly?
Your homepage shouldn't make someone work to understand the business.
Can they find the right product?
Navigation, collections, search and filtering become increasingly important as a catalogue grows.
Does the product page answer the questions holding someone back?
Good product pages bring together imagery, information, reassurance and buying options in the order people actually need them.
Does the mobile experience feel considered?
For many brands, most customers are shopping on a phone. Mobile isn't a smaller version of desktop. It needs its own attention.
Is there unnecessary friction?
Too many apps, pop-ups, choices, steps or competing messages can make buying harder rather than easier.
Does the website create confidence?
Delivery information, returns, reviews, guarantees, product details and clear communication all matter when someone is deciding whether to buy.
These are often small things individually.
Together, they shape how easy the store feels to use.
